A live, instructor-led seminar being held in conjunction with AACE's 2020* Virtual Conference and Expo. The course will run 11:00 AM - 3:25 PM EDT each day with a 40 minute break for lunch at 12:10 PM EDT.
Instructor: Paul Williams
Paul Williams, Sr. Vice President of Pathfinder, LLC, has over 30 years Project Management and Project Engineering experience working for Owner and Contractor organizations in the Petroleum, Chemical Process, Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Food & Beverage industries. He has extensive multi-disciplined, hands-on engineering and construction experience, along with demonstrated competencies in planning, budgeting, contract review and personnel management. Paul has worked on both domestic and international projects and has broad-based experience in project development from concept through start-up, with first hand knowledge of plant operations, maintenance, environmental/health/safety issues, and management of construction work within an operating facility.
Paul holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in Engineering Management from Drexel University. He’s a Licensed PE and Certfied PMP with memberships in AACE, PMI & ASME.
Description
This session will build off the basic concepts of “Project Control from an Owner’s Perspective.” Advanced Project Control issues will be addressed including Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis, Engineering and Construction Productivity Evaluation and Influences, Schedule Analysis and recover options, Reporting and Contractor Oversight. Discussion will be conducted on project control requirements and language required in owner contract documents. Facilitators will also demonstrate some of the more common software tools for scheduling, risk analysis, cost estimating, etc. Participants will be tasked with various workshop exercises that will challenge their skills in project control and project recovery techniques.
