About AACE

Who We Are

With 7,000 members in 100 countries, AACE International has been serving the total cost management community since 1956. We are committed to the constructive exchange of ideas between members, development of technical guidance and quality education and recognition of subject matter experts. Our members work in a variety of disciplines and across all industries.

For over 40 years AACE has been certifying individuals. We offer the following certifications: Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Certified Cost Technician (CCT), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), Certified Forensic Claims Consultant (CFCC), Earned Value Professional (EVP), Decision and Risk Management Professional (DRMP), Certified Scheduling Technician (CST) and Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP). AACE’s CCP, CCT, CEP, CST, EVP, and PSP certifications are independently accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards.

What Does "AACE" Stand For?

The legal name since 1992 is AACE International. In 1956 the organization was established as the American Association of Cost Engineers. While you may have seen that “AACE” stands for the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering, this is only a statement that encompasses the work of the Association, not a legal name.

AACE’s Certification Program Plans Transition to New Computer-based Testing (CBT) Vendor - PSI Services, Inc.

by Penny Whoolery | Mar 15, 2019

PSI LogoMORGANTOWN, WV – On November 19, 2018, the Certification Board unanimously approved a motion to transition all computer-based testing (CBT) from Kryterion Testing Services to PSI Services, Inc. in 2019. Since such time, certification staff have been working with both vendors to ensure a smooth transition for our anticipated go-live date of May 20, 2019.

We are excited to offer candidates an improved examination experience that will feature an interface between the application process and scheduling within the AACE profile, improved onscreen reference materials that can be collapsed and zoomed in/out, more testing center options in areas that were previously limited, to name a few.

In case you are wondering, the transition will not affect our ability to receive and process certification applications; interested candidates may continue making and submitting applications. However, scheduling examinations from this point forward will have limitations until we are fully transitioned to PSI’s platform. Please review the details below to see how this transition will affect you as a new candidate, a cleared but not scheduled candidate, or a cleared and already schedule candidate.

For all new candidates (who have not yet been cleared to sit for the examination):

Once you are cleared you will have two options from which to choose -
  • Option 1: If you can take your exam by April 29, 2019, you may use the access voucher code provided in your clearance letter and schedule your exam with Kryterion. The voucher code will not work for any dates beyond April 29, 2019. Your registration period will begin the day of clearance; if you do not successfully pass the exam, your resit will be handled through the PSI platform.
  • Option 2: If you cannot or do not want to take your exam by April 29, 2019, your clearance will be held until the anticipated PSI go-live date of May 20, 2019. You will be provided a new clearance letter with the new scheduling information; your registration period will start on the date of notification.

For all cleared candidates (who have not yet scheduled their exam with Kryterion):

Your current access voucher code has been deactivated to avoid any schedule conflicts with the transition. As a result, you will not be able to successfully schedule your exam. You will be contacted (soon) via email with two new options -
  • Option 1: If you can take your exam by April 29, 2019, you may use the new access voucher code provided in your revised clearance letter and schedule your exam with Kryterion. The voucher code will not work for any dates beyond April 29, 2019. Your registration period will remain the same as when you were first cleared; if you do not successfully pass the exam, your resit will be handled through the PSI platform.
  • Option 2: If you cannot or do not want to take your exam by April 29, 2019, your revised clearance will be held until the anticipated PSI go-live date of May 20, 2019. You will be provided a new clearance letter with the new scheduling information; for your inconvenience, your new registration period will start on the date of notification.

For all cleared candidates (who have already scheduled their exam with Kryterion beyond April 29, 2019):

Since we will no longer be under contract with Kryterion and will not have access to their system, your scheduled examination must be recalled, unfortunately. You will be contacted (soon) via email with two new options –
You will be provided a new clearance letter with the new scheduling information; for your inconvenience, your registration period will start on the date of notification. There is no guarantee you will be able to select the same date and time as your Kryterion scheduled exam, and it is highly unlikely the testing centers will be the same.

As we get closer to go-live, we will share more information and helpful instruction. Please bear with us as we work to improve our systems and enhance your certification experience. In the meantime, you can check out PSI Services, Inc. by clicking here.
