Ghaith has been an AACE member since 2007 and started volunteering by helping work colleagues set up the venue for an AACE Toronto Section event in 2011. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Toronto Section, Chair of the Community Membership Committee, and serves on the Online Learning subcommittee of the Education Board. He is passionate about AACE membership growth and engagement, as evidenced by his leadership in advocating for both at-large membership and Section activities.

Ghaith grew up in Amman, Jordan. He went to civil engineering school and worked for several years in Jordan before spending 7 years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He moved to Toronto, Canada in 2011 and met Erin, his future wife, a few months after that and Toronto became home. He learned about AACE through a small company that he worked at in Jordan in 2004. He was “intrigued and mesmerized by the term ‘cost engineering’.”

Pre-Covid-19, Ghaith played squash, traveled, and explored new destinations. Post-Covid-19, he’s experimenting with different hot sauce recipes, planting vegetables, and rating craft breweries on the untappd app.

What does Ghaith like most about volunteering for AACE? “The feeling of self-fulfillment that comes from being part of a global community where you can learn something new, connect with likeminded professionals from all across the globe, give back to the profession, and have lots of fun along the way.”

Thank you, Ghaith!!
